Porsche Carrera Cup Australia

Adelaide Street Circuit

Adelaide is always one of our favourite events and we’ve had a lot of success there over the years. Unfortunately, Brett had business commitments and was unable to finish the season with 'Cupcar McQueen'. Lockie and Clay were both looking to finish the season with strong results after huge growth across the 2025 championship. Caleb also had a clash with his Carrera Cup Middle East campaign, so his family did a deal to put former MR rival Aaron Love in the car for the weekend.

After being clearly in the top-3 in both practise sessions, we were taken by surprise that Aaron only qualified 9th and 5th. In race 1 he got to 5th after changing to wets early in the race. In race 2 he started 4th then advanced to 2nd when the top 2 went off at turn 4. Due to his combined points from race 1 and 2 he started race 3 from pole and was unchallenged from start to finish.

Clay was very disappointed to qualify 14th for race 1 and 13th for race 2. He benefitted from the early change to wets and cycled up to 3rd in the very wet and shortened race 1. In race 2 he started 12th and made 1 place in what was a 1 lap race before a long safety car period, then red flag. He was later penalised 5 seconds for contact dropping his final result to 14th. Clay started race 3 from grid 9 and dropped a couple of places at the start but then had a solid dice with Vidau eventually finishing 10th.

Lockie did a terrific job in qualifying to take 5th for race 1 and 7th for race 2. Race 1 was going well until Lockie (and all three cars behind him on the road) hit a puddle on the entry to the treacherous turn 8 and hit the wall. After a late night his car was back to brand new for race 2 where he did a great job to rebound to a 7th place finish. Lockie started race 3 from grid 11 and dropped a couple of places at the start then Hall on lap 3 to finish 13th.

Summary

What a crazy weekend, Lockie did a great job in qualifying to take 5th and 7th, Clay was disappointed with his quali result and Aaron was expecting a better result after being one of the fastest in practice.

Race 1 was held in very wet and treacherous conditions which caught out Lockie, Hall, de Haan and Giltrap.

Race 2 only lasted one lap after former MR drivers Bayley Hall and Harri Jones took themselves off the road at turn 4 on lap one, then one of the Pro-Am drivers went off and damaged the tyre barrier at turn 13, causing an extended safety car period, then a red flag.

In race 3 Aaron got a great start to hold off Wood then managed his lead to the chequered flag. Lockie and Clay both lost ground in race 3 but both have grown a huge amount in 2025 and built a solid foundation for podiums and race wins in 2026. Notably, Aaron's race 3 victory was MR's first Carrera Cup race win of the 2025 season and continuing our record-breaking run of winning a race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia every year since 2011!

That's a wrap on the Carrera Cup championship for 2025, many thanks to the awesome MR crew, Luffy the supercoach, our drivers, their families and sponsors.
