GT4 Australia

Hampton Downs, NZ

Needless to say there were many months of planning that went into this international race event. With all the quarantine & agriculture requirements going into New Zealand, the AMRC (Awesome MR Crew) needed to fly to Auckland on the Tuesday before and didn’t return home till Monday so we on the road for a whole week. On top of that Jay had been in Munich, Germany to attend the BMW Junior camp and didn’t arrive in NZ until Thursday night.

Race 1 – SRO Monochrome GT4 Australia 'Silver Am Class' Qualified 6th (Jay) Race result DNF
Jay started the first race and did a terrific job to hand the car over to Nathan in 6th position outright. Nathan was driving at his best and was sitting in the top 10 with only 10 minutes remaining when a stone punctured the radiator causing the engine to overheat forcing us into the pits and out of the race.

Race 2 – SRO Monochrome GT4 Australia 'Silver AM Class' Qualified 10th (Nathan) Race result 9th.
Nathan started race 2 and again continued to show his huge improvement by passing 5 cars in his stint and after his 30 minute stint, he handed the car over to Jay in a really strong position. Unfortunately some issues with the seat belts during the driver-change lost us precious time which cost what was looking likely to be a top-5 finish.

Summary

Despite not getting the results we wanted, both Nathan and Jay showed significant improvement in their driving and looking forward to a really competitive GT4 season in 2026.

Also many thanks to Tony Court from BMW Australia and Marius May, the head of BMW’s international GT4 program, for joining us for the weekend.
