Round 5 was going to be only the second ever race weekend for Jay and how cool to be doing it with his dad. Well, that was the plan…

Nathan & Jay did a great job in race 1 to take 7th in the Silver-Am class, but on Sunday morning Nathan woke with back spasms, a carry over from his footy days, and we decided it wasn’t safe for him to race.
The SRO & Motorsport Australia officials were great in allowing us the retire Nathan from race 2 and allow Jay to change his GT4 driver category from Silver-Am to Silver. Due to the last-minute driver change, Jay had to start the race from the rear of the grid, with 28 cars ahead.

A lap 1 incident and an early safety car burnt up valuable time that Jay could have used to pass cars, but once the race got started, he did an amazing job to end the race 6th in Silver class and 10th outright.

‘Bertrand’ came back with a few more battle scars than normal, but all from good hard racing against far more experienced drivers in one of the country’s most competitive categories.
This kid has a very bright future and the team at MR is really looking forward to guiding him to a professional career racing GT cars internationally.
