Porsche Carrera Cup Australia

Surfers Paradise Street Circuit

It's always fun to race at your home circuit, and never more so than at the awesome but unforgiving Surfers Paradise street circuit at the GC500 event.

We have very fond memories from here, having wrapped-up the drivers championships with Matty Campbell in 2016, Jaxon Evans in 2018 and last year with Harri Jones.

Jackson was keen for a productive weekend and hopefully retake the lead of the championship before the final round in Adelaide in November. Bayley was confident having just returned from the final round of Carrera Cup North America in Texas last weekend, while Pancho, Ryder and our Pro-Am pilot Tim Miles were very motivated to turn their recent luck around and show what they are truly capable of.

Summary

What an epic weekend! It is always very rewarding when we have a driver on the podium, even more so when there are two, so we are absolutely thrilled for Bayley taking his first two race wins and first round win. Also, Jackson switched his championship points position from a 6-point deficit to a 21-point lead after taking 3rd for the round and he now heads to the final round in Adelaide where there are 180 points still available.

After what can only be described as a miserable season, Christian had his second-best weekend of the year, the highlight for us was definitely his aggressive run in the top 5 in race 3 which also netted him the 4th fastest race lap.

Ryder also had a breakout weekend after a DNF in race 1 he forced his way from the rear of the Pro class grid to 8th in race 3 showing speed and maturity well beyond his 18 years.

Tim qualified 6th and had a solid weekend going until getting innocently caught in a roadblock after a blind corner which halted his momentum.

Needless to say Bayley and (almost) Jackson had the weekends they had hoped for and all 4 Pro drivers, plus Tim, should head to Adelaide in 4 weeks time with renewed confidence and a hunger to finish strong.

Many thanks to the tireless efforts of the awesome MR crew, and the support and loyalty from our drivers, their families, sponsors and backers.
