At the age of thirteen, Tom’s father Grant introduced him into Go karting. Tom continued Go karting with his father as his mechanic until 2020 when he joined a professional karting Team. In 2021, Tom started racing Formula Fords finishing 3rd overall in the Qld Formula Ford series despite a scary incident which lead to a concussion and missing two rounds of the series. In early 2022 Tom took part in three rounds of the Australian Formula Ford Championship with a best result of 7th and a top qualifying result of 4th. Tom and his family concluded that Formula Ford was a great learning experience but the time had come for Tom to continue onto Porsche racing.

In July 2022, Tom joined McElrea Racing to start his journey on the Porsche Pyramid to a professional career in Europe or the US. In his first event at a Porsche Club race weekend at Queensland Raceway, Tom took pole position and 2 race wins. He is now competing in the 2022 Michelin Sprint Challenge, racing the number 81 Porsche 991:2 GT3 cup car for MacPro Properties.

  • Porsche Michelin Sprint challenge 1st place (Class B) Queensland Raceway 2022.
  • Clean sweep and 1st Place Formula Ford Qld series Rd 4 Queensland Raceway 2021.
  • 4th place in qualifying and 7th overall Formula Ford Nationals Winton Raceway 2022.

Any other personal interests you would like to share?

  • Training wise I enjoy gym work with my mates and also boxing which I have just begun this year. Outside of training I like to get away with my mates and go 4-wheel driving and when I find the time, I also enjoy getting the dirt bike out.

What are your favourite motorsport moment?

  • My Karting days in 2021 with all my good mates, we would race and train side by side and go on week long camps together in the off season.

What is your all-time favourite race car?

  • Porsche 992 RSR.

What is your favourite race circuit?

  • Phillip Island. My favourite circuits that I have not yet driven on are Bathurst, Spa Francorchamps and Gold Coast.
