Harri Jones

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia
Pro, Michelin Junior
#12

Having never raced Go Karts, Harri raced Downhill Mountain Bikes at an International level before turning to 4 wheels.

He started his career in the Queensland Formula Ford Series in 2015. He then raced FF at national level in 2016/17 and moved up to 'wings and slicks' in 2018, campaigning in the MRF Challenge in Asia and Australian Formula 3, where he won the 2018 Australian F3 championship.

2019 was Harri's first season campaigning a 'tin top' with MR which culminated in him becoming the Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge (and Endurance series) champion, in his debut season. 2020 was his debut Porsche Carrera Cup season and after finishing 3rd in 2021, the second Covid-affected season, he will certainly be a championship favourite for 2022.

When Harri is not racing, he is studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Queensland (Brisbane).

Background

What are your top 3 Career Highlights so far?

  • 2019 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Champion
  • 2018 Australian Formula 3 Champion
  • Finishing in the top 5 in my first LMP3 event in Paul Ricard, France

Have you raced in any other events or categories?

  • I started racing in 2015 in the Queensland Formula Ford Series, I moved up to National level in 2016/17 and raced in the MRF Challenge and Australian Formula 3 in 2018. I have also completed multiple endurance events in GT4 and LMP3.

Any other personal interests you would like to share?

  • Before I started in Motorsport, I raced Downhill Mountain Bikes at an International level, needless to say I enjoy getting back on the bike any chance I get.
  • I also love to surf and hang out by the beach.

What are your favourite motorsport moments?

  • Completing and winning the Bathurst 12HR in 2017. This was my first ever endurance event and the first major race of my career, certainly a memory I'll never forget.

What is your all-time favourite race car?

  • Of the cars I've driven, there isn’t much better than an LMP3, it has all the comforts of a 'tin top' with the raw nature and speed of an 'open wheeler'.

What is your favourite race circuit?

  • Yas Marina and Bathurst!
